    It is in fact a truth that depression afflicts millions of people day by day and that comprise children. Most people does not admit this truth since children are seen to have a stress-free life and all they do is to study, eat, and play. This is an ultimately wrong understanding since a child’s life can also be very stressful that it can even cause depression in most of them.

    Temper Tantrum and ADHD

    Most of the time adults believe that a child’s temper tantrums are common especially when they do not get what they want. Some children cry a lot especially those that have very sensitive personalities. Children who behave in this manner are those who have disruptive behavior. This behavior is common among children from all around the world.

    Take extra notice when when certain behaviors like persistent sadness or repetitive occurrence of disruptive behavior is seen most of the time. Disputed school work and socialization with playmates can be an outcome of this behavior. Children who bully playmates with no reason are perhaps suffering from depression. There is a high possibility that this kind of behavior came from an underlying symptom of ADHD.

    Children’s Coping Mechanisms are Different from Adults

    Children behave differently because compared to adults, they do not have a well-developed defense mechanism. The child will cry when sad and may shout when angry and this is what is observed by teachers. Therefore, it is significantfor parents to give extra attention to this behavior to find if the child is already declining into depression.

    Some children are vocal about their ideas especially fearful ones and ask questions from adults. Naturally, children get depressed when a loved ones die. Children can also be affected by immediate changes like transferring to a new neighborhood or school. At these times, parents should affirm their children during the adjustment period as part of life’s change,A divorce of parents can be stressful for a child to handle which then can lead to depression. Sometimes children react to these situations violently, some hide what they feel and display behaviors of irrational anger.

    Adults Play an Important Role

    It is however crucial for parents to attend to their children ones such behavior is seen.Depression in children can be detected by the following symptoms: They eat at a certain time change in appetite, withdrawal from play sessions, unexplained irritability, change in sleep patterns, poor concentration, inability to do regular tasks such as playtime, sudden dislike from hobbies, fatigue etc. Whatever may be the cause of a child’s depression, parents and adults should seek immediate professional help to minimize the childhood trauma and seek early medication.
