I’ve heard that its better to weight train before the season starts so it gives you a good base, but then how much should you continue to weight train during your competition season? And how much do you think it could improve my time? I run a 1:43 half marathon, but my training isn’t that structured.

Columbia swimmer Doris Russell is Madame Butterfly at age 90
Russell still winning swim medals HealthKey: Teeth chattering, thin arms slicing through the water, Doris Russell forges on. Never mind her 90 years, frail legs and leaky goggles. Time and again, Russell swims the length of the pool, mixing her strokes and adding lap after lap to her training grind. In May, she won six gold medals at the U.S. Masters Swimming Championships in Atlanta. Victory …

I’m 14 and I can’t do any push-ups because my arms are too weak, so I’ve decided to start weight training with dumbbells. I have 7 pound ones and I bought a light resistance band. Should I get heavier weights or can I just use the ones I have?

My gym offers Zumba one night a week. I’ve never tried a class before, so what should I expect? Will I be alright in sneakers? I’m not going to buy dance shoes until I’ve decided I like the class. Is it a good workout? Will I be totally left in the dust since I’m a newbie? Tell me about your Zumba experience. I’m nervous!

To tomorrow im going to try a new type of training at the gym to get toned in a shorter amount of time, which is circuit training. My question is, When doing each exercise, how many reps should I push out in the amount of time I do them? For example, there I 14 different workouts I plan to do in my circuit. I plan on doing about a minute for each one, some 2 or three minutes (like jogging).
thanks

I am 20 years old and workout regularly, usually 5 days a week. I take a pre-workout nitrous oxide booster and a lean mass protein post-workout. I am satisfied with my size and strength, I just want to be more defined. Any suggestions?

I alternate between intervals and just fartleks/tempo runs/anything not intervals every other day. I have been reading alot about strength training recently and I would like to improve my core strength as well as some other areas. Should I do this strength training every day on different areas, or every few days on the same areas or what? Also, should I focus on just upper/core strength or should I work on my legs as well? Because I figure mmy legs are already getting enough of a workout from running and hills.

For those of you who have taken or are now taking zumba would you recommend buying the dvd set that has been shown on infomercials or going to a gym and taking the class with zumba. I’m a little unsure about which one to choose, so I decided to ask the experienced people who have worked with zumba. Thank you for the answers!
I will vote for a best answer!
Thanks again!
